Sierra Lee-Brenner is a licensed mental health counselor and board certified registered art therapist. She maintains a private practice on Bainbridge Island, WA. She works with a broad spectrum of clients. The areas of her expertise are grief and loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, physical illness, women's issues, parenthood and spirituality.
Sierra believes that psychotherapy is a devotional practice of learning to recognize and embrace the multifaceted, incongruent aspects of one's personality with humility and compassion. It is a collaborative process between a client and a therapist that can profoundly influence and transform both of those who enter into an agreed therapeutic relationship. In Jungian-based psychotherapy, the symptoms of psychological, emotional, and physical ailments are understood to be important communications from one's depth to offer a guidance to live life in accordance with one's own unique and true nature. Suffering can awaken one's habitual perceptions to consciously examine and evaluate how to direct one's flow of life with the heartfelt intentions from within.
Dreamwork, art making, yoga, expressive writing, myths/fairytales, and psychological astrology are some of the therapeutic modalities that Sierra integrates with a traditional verbal psychotherapy to engage her clients. The multi-modal therapeutic approach encourages the creative imagination of her clients to discover, connect, and become more fully themselves each day. Sierra holds a nonjudgmental, nourishing, relational space for her clients. The aim of Sierra's practice is to support her clients in recognizing and honoring their unique limitations and gifts. Vitalizing one's playful curiosity and spontaneity, she believes, is essential to create the meaningful, resonant stories of one's life.
For the past several years, Sierra has been actively engaged in studying C.G. Jung's Collected Works related to alchemical studies through Jung Society of Washington study group. She is also continuing with Jung Society Reading Seminars facilitated by various Analytic psychoanalysts to deepen her understanding of Analytic psychology also known as Jungian-based psychology.
Sierra is a voracious reader of wide range of subjects that support her lifelong pursuit of understanding the mysteries of life and the human nature. More she learns, she feels humbled by the recognition of how little she knows. She values learning with humility and patience. This very same attitude she brings to her therapeutic space to appreciate the depths of each individual's unique history and nature. In her playtime, she enjoys hiking with her two Bernese mountain dogs and various fiber arts.
